Shark Week!

I had to dig through my personal archives again for this old drawing. I wanted to draw something new to post on here, but who has any time for that when the Discovery Channel is having its annual Shark Week?

If you've read what I posted in April about Stupid Sharks, you already know that I have a bit of a "shark information" obsession. It's only Tuesday, and already Shark Week has taught valuable lessons like:

1 - Don't wear a watch in the ocean. Sharks think things that sparkle are fish tails, and they eat those, and will therefore eat you.

2 - When a great white attacks, it's like getting hit by a train. Someone actually said that. What unlucky sap has experienced a great white attack and a collision with a train? Luckily that person survived both events to point out the similarities to the rest of us.

3 - Sharks don't like the taste of humans. I suppose they've filled out surveys or selected Pepsi in a blind taste test or something.

Stupid sharks... I love 'em!

Sweet! A quick anatomical correction sharks have SHARP teeth. Just joking. Did you see the flying jaws last night. These 20 foot sharks were jumping completely out of the water attacking seals.

"Air Jaws" - the most horrifying thing I've ever seen! I had gone through life assuming I was safe if I just stayed out of the ocean, and then a few years ago I was flipping through a magazine while I waited for a haircut, and I saw a photograph of an entire great white shark flying through the air. Sea World should train great whites... that would be a sweet show... and a horrifying nightmare. Next they'll be walking around... you'll see.

It's surprising to me that there are still bits of info about sharks that you don't know. I guess they really are the most mysterious and complex creatures in all the world.

Excellent imagery, as usual, and great coloring! I can't wait go to lunch with you so I can find out more reasons why I should stay landlocked.

if you think flying 16-foot great whites are freaky, just be glad the megalodon isn't still around...

thanks for your comment! shark enthusiasts unite!

I had to follow up on your comment about Megalodon JoJo. This is what I came up with Shane (prepare for sleepless nights):

The Megalodon, a prehistoric shark, was thought to be (max) 52 feet (15.9 meters) long and weighted approximately 48 tons. The largest Great White was roughly 23.5 feet (7.1 meters) long and weighed roughly 2.3 tons. As if jumping Great Whites weren't bad enough.

This thing would have made 'Jaws' look like a Goldfish. Call me anytime, I'll be up all night.

Thank you, as always, for the invaluable information, and the nice drawing. Sharks are cool, even if they are stupid.

Anything that lurks under large bodies of water is terrifying to me, but Sharks take the cake for sure. Along with those stinkin' little jellyfish that can kill you with one sting! Discovery Channel rules. I find it highly entertaining to turn it on and use it for background noise while I draw. That way I don't have to endure the vile visuals of Mike Rowe gutting Tiger Sharks. Works better for me!

I just switched over to the Discovery Channel, and... Sharks! You know who's more stupid than sharks? This idiot who just said, "I'm not going to just watch, I'm going to feed them myself."

Another guy says, "Sometime a shark bite your arm. Also bite your leg. It's true. Don't panic."

OK, now that I know what to do...

I forgot to mention, then he said, "Sometime you get hit by train. It smash your arm, it smash your leg. Don't panic."

He seemed to really know what he was talking about.
