Princess Leia

This week's Toon Club topic was Star Wars... an overwhelming topic... so many great characters. I drew a handfull of Yoda sketches, but they all looked terrible compared to Genndy Tartokovsky's Clone Wars designs. So I went with the obvious next choice... Princess Leia and the metal bikini. The legs are a little messed up... oh well.

I'd like to thank Princess Leia, Womder Woman, and Sandy (from Grease) for introducing me to my heterosexuality. And I also want to thank Jabba the Hutt and George Lucas for providing the princess with her prison attire.

She's gorgeous...must be based at least loosely on your wife, right? :-) Just kidding. If I could only look so good in a metal bikini...well I'd...still not wear one. I imagine they're quite frustrating to swim in - what with all the rusting...and not to mention the weight that could possibly sink you to the bottom. Perverted? Perhaps it was - Practical? Certainly not.

I agree with "random person on the street" bloop bloop bleep bleep that this is a decidedly gorgeous Princess Leia.

Such nice line work and coloring, and a wonderful animated adaption. You are as skillful as those wizards at ILM, old man.

Don't worry Shane, you are not alone! Adrian also has a thing for the famous metal bikini! He also likes Xena the Warrior Princess, hmm, I wonder if there is any connection? Anyway, nice job. I like the rich colors and the detail on the bikini. Good job!

I actually think this cartoon Leia is hotter than the real life one! Once again, you make real life seem lame in comparison to "cartoon" life

This is too funny. I really enjoy this post and the comments as well. I agree that your drawing of her is a prettier Leia than the movie. :) I have always wanted a metal bikini! Honestly! I remember when I was a kid watching Star Wars and thinking Princess Leia had a boring white dress, but she was still my hero. Then in the next movie she wore THIS great outfit and I was pretty sure that's what I wanted to be for Halloween. My parents had different ideas. Luckily I didn't still want to dress like that out in public as a teenager or that probably would have got me in a whole mess of trouble.
P.S. Seth didn't ever cut out his fish because the perfectionist fella was frustrated with how his color tissues ended up blending in a different way than he wanted and Kendyl didn't want to cut out any shape because she liked her square piece of colored tissue paper. :) But we all had fun making a mess all over the table.

Do you mind if I take her out? I mean, I'll put a bib on her and she'll come home cleaner than when I first picked her up.

Ay carumba! If only Carrie Fisher knew what she did to the collective male population of 1983! Can Return of the Jedi be considered a "coming of age" film if the "coming of age" happened to the audience? You've done a lovely job, Shane. She's mighty purty.

Very nice work. I imagine it wasn't too hard finding the time to "work" on this piece. Very easy on the eyes...
