Shark Week!

It's Shark Week again! Time to fill our heads and our nightmares with a whole new set of facts, images, and terrifying tales about the ugliest, most tooth-filled demons of the sea. I've decided that the less you know about sharks, the more danger you're in, and the more you know about sharks, the more danger you think you're in. But no matter how much or how little you know about them, the one thing you can be sure of is that sharks are currently plotting your death. There's no way around that.

This drawing was inspired by my childhood fear of bubble baths and hot tubs. I was all right in a bath without bubbles because I could see everything in the tub around me. No shark's going to sneak up on a kid in a bubbleless bath. But as soon as bubbles were involved... well, any idiot can tell you that murky water is the ideal condition for shark attacks... and any idiot just did.

Happy Shark Week, everybody!

ROFL! This is so perfect. A few of my kids aren't fans of bubbles either, lol. They laughed when they saw this.

Wow, I did not know that that fear existed beyond me?! Great drawing all the same. If only Hulu did shark week.

Okay, apparently Hulu does! I just checked. Looks like I will be busy for the next few nights.

Shane,

In commemoration of "Shark Week" there was something I thought you should see:

I always figured it was the Creature from the Black Lagoon, live and learn. I guess we grew up on a diet of different anxieties. Excellent post Shane!

Hey Shane! I thought of you 2 weeks ago when Penelope and I were at the aquarium looking in the shark tank. She has a puffer fish friend in that tank that she loves to see and he loves to see her and her red hat.
Anyway, a shark swam right past her puffer fish while we were watching and slightly scrunched up his body and shot bubbles out of his bum. It looked like he sneezed, but Pip and I both saw where those bubbles had come out of. In fact he swam another foot or two and did it again. Pip shouted, "A SHARK A FART MOM!" She talks about it almost everyday still. Hopefully this experience will make sharks funny to her instead of scary. :)
