Disgustingly Cute

For the Avalanche Art Blog, the topic was both "love" and "too cute for comfort." I combined the two and threw in some good old "forced emotion." What do people think is cute? Puppies and babies, right? Add several spoonfuls of sap, and the cuteness casserole is ready to serve. Don't eat it, though... it's designed to make you gag.

This is the same way that country songs are written. First you think of stuff that makes you cry, then you make all the stuff rhyme, and then you sing it while wearing a big hat. Wonderful, forced emotion.

I think it's adorable - which I suppose is the point - but it doesn't make me gag. I think drawing "cute" things definitely is your strength.

Maybe she would gag if she knew there was milk of magnesia in the bottle. It seemed clear to me.

Such a strong post, sir. I love it! I love the coloring, the character design, the concept, the yellow behind them, the dimensions of the drawing...

Can't wait to buy this as a bib on your zazzle store.

Definitely very cute. I dunno though Shane....there's something in that baby's eyes. I've seen the same look in Seneca's eyes. It's the look she has when she offers our Pug, Duke, a cookie and then takes it away.....over and over and over again. LOL! The look on that puppy's face is seriously priceless. So cute.

So hey...question for ya...all of these drawings you post...are these for work? Or are they challenges that you do aside from work...that in turn give you practice for work? You've mentioned a few sites that give topics you follow for your drawings. Just curious! It's crazy the detail you include in your drawings...something as simple as that buttercream shape in the background makes such a huge difference. Serious talent, dude!

Didn't know you had your own store. VERY COOL! I saw that one of your friends mentioned it and found the link to check it out! Fun stuff!

It's funny how much heart you put into your characters and then make fun of it... It's OK, nothing wrong with grade A cuteness.

That is too cute Shane. I've banned my children from ever visiting your website unless I take a look first. This kind of stuff is dangerous. Please be more careful in the future. This kind of thing topples governments.

Fabulous job Shane. Though the kid reminds me of a friend of mine from Brooklyn. He was a 'debt collector' for an italian family in New York.

Shane, it'd be more cute if that bottle was full of antifreeze.

The only thing to make it the one more step up toward oozing preciousness would be to add a single hair or two to the baby...
