Some Raccoons

It's been over a week since I posted anything new on my blog. And it will be even longer, because although I'm posting something today, it's far from "new." I drew this a couple of years ago, and it's the only thing left in my "current" portfolio that I'm not ashamed of. Raccoons are fun to draw... especially when you don't let their actual anatomy influence how you're going to draw them. Take that, realism!

  1. I'm first to comment! Woo hoo! Score!

I love these designs, young Shane. Of course, I've loved them for several years now, but they seem to hold up. Sometimes, when you look back at older drawings, you realized how poor they are. But I think this drawing is actually fairly wealthy.

Glad to see some "new" stuff here!

  4. I can't express how much I appreciate these characters Shane. They are so individual, and yet from the same family. Everything about them is pure D.E.-lightful! Thanks for posting some of your portfolio. Post more! Or just e-mail it to me so I can dehydrate whilst I drool. Thanks Shane!

  5. SO nice. They are so different yet still pretty cohesive in style. Are they racoon elves?

  8. Thank you, everyone... I'm glad you like them. Or at least I'm glad that you claim to. And to answer your question, Joe... yes, these are raccoon elves, or at least that's what it seems like in the right lighting.

  9. this is solid character design, shane. I like the variation on the eye mask marks on each character. It would take me a lot of sketching to come up with that one.
